Spring is in the air. The flowers are blooming, and the grass is greening up. If you have a garden, now’s the time to get ready for it. It’s been a long winter, so take advantage of this sunny weather and put some effort into your garden before the weeds come back. Here’s how to keep your garden looking great this spring.
- Get rid of that overgrown mess.
The first thing you need to do is clear out the overgrown areas of your yard. This includes shrubs, trees, and other perennials that took over your yard. Take care not to damage any plants as they will be coming back next year. You can cut them down or remove them if you don’t want to wait until next year. Then, rake everything up. Use any loose soil and compost from around your house to fertilize your garden. Also, if you’re going to use fertilizer, buy one with a high nitrogen content since that’s what most plants prefer. Finally, mulch your flower beds to help retain moisture.
- Clean out the bird bath.
If you leave the old birdbath in place, when the spring sun gets hot, birds won’t drink water. So, if you haven’t taken it out yet, do it now! Next, clean off the bottom of the birdbath and fill it with fresh water. Don’t forget the little cup under the spout to catch droppings. After filling it, cover the top with a tarp or something else that keeps the rain out but doesn’t allow insects and critters access to the water source. Lastly, add some pebbles to the bottom to give the birds something to perch on. This should provide them with a comfortable resting spot.
- Clean up the driveway.
If you’ve got a lot of snow piled up outside, now’s the time to make sure everyone has a safe way to get in and out of their vehicle. Clear away all the snow from around your cars and trucks. When you’re done, sweep up the snow and push it into an area where it won’t melt and contaminate the rest of your yard. Be sure to shovel around the base of your shrubs, too, to prevent water runoff from getting into your yard.
- Water your lawn.
If you haven’t already, start watering your lawn now to ensure it stays healthy and green. Start by sprinkling the surface of your lawn to moisten the soil. If it looks dry, sprinkle more water on the lawn, but avoid wetting the roots of your grass. Once you’ve watered the lawn, let it sit for about 10 minutes to soak up the moisture. Then, go ahead and mow it. If you have a trimmer, trimming it now will save you time later.
- Weed control.
Now that you’ve gotten rid of your overgrowth, it’s time to tackle the weeds. First, pull out any tall weeds that grow up through the ground. Then, spray weed killer on the tops of those weeds to kill them right away. After spraying, wait at least 30 minutes before raking the area. By then, the chemicals will have dissipated and the weeds will die without harming nearby vegetation.
If the person will keep their focus on the above points then the garden will look attractive. Top increase the number of visitors in the garden, a person can even plan to apply the Luxury Screens at the place. The selection of the screen is based on eth choice of the people.
To protect your plants and vegetables from bugs, apply insecticide sprays to your garden. Check with your local nursery to find the best products for your area. Remember that these sprays aren’t meant to harm people, pets, or wildlife. They’re only meant to stop pests like aphids, flea beetles, and spider mites from eating your crops.
After applying the pesticides, watch for signs of pest activity in your garden. These include dead leaves, wilted foliage, and damaged fruits and vegetables. If you see anything out of the ordinary, call your local agricultural extension service office.
